K.V.P. CARNIVAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) At the last meeting of the Progress • League a resolution as follows was passed and now been conveyed to Mr C. F. Johnston: “That the best thanks of the Feilding Progress League bo conveyed to Mr Johnston for his generous gift of’land at the corner of Warwick and Queen j streets for the purpose of a children’s playground.” A communication received by the chairj man of the carnival committee from the ! secretary of the defunct Fitzroy Tennis Club states that it was agreed to realise on the club’s assets and hand the proceeds to the carnival fund. This action having been taken, the sum of £ll 11s Id has been forwarded to the chairman of the carnival committee. NOTES. A pleasant little function took place •at Eytton Street School yesterday afternoon, when the teachers and committee met to say good-bye to Miss Price who lias been relieving teacher during the absence of Miss Crabb in Canada. Mr Mcllroy, the headmaster, in making a presentation to Miss Price on behalf of her fellow teachers, expressed his gratification at the work I done by chat lady. She had gone out of I her way to do more than her duty and I both scholars and pupils were exceedingly sorry that she was leaving. Messrs Penney and Lees voiced the regret of the committee ut the severance of such pleasant relations as had existed and Mrs Sandford, on their behalf, presented another token of their esteem and appreciation. Miss Price leaves for Sandon on Monday to relieve there. Miss Janet Crabb, who has been on exchange in Toronto for the past year, takes up her duties at Lytton Street School on Monday next. Mr and Mrs Janies Knight, who have been in Britain during the past nine months, returned to Feilding this week. The first steam tractor for use in Feilding arrived yesterday, and its unpacking and sturting aroused considerable interest.
