JAZZ OPERA.
NEW YORK EXPERIMENT. NEW YORK, Nor. 18. The Metropolitan Opera House may produce jazz opera. Mr Otto Ivahn, chairman of the board, has offered to back such a production. Several jazz composers, including Irving Berlin, have discussed the possibilities and are willing to make an attempt. Mr Kahn desires only that the theme should be original. Mr George Gershwin, whose recent jazz compositions have attracted attention in the highest musical circles, will make serious study for the task.
