RAILWAY DEVIATION.
MR NASH'S STATEMENT. INFORMATION EXPECTED SOON. "I would like to tell you quite a lot about this question, but 1 cannot da so," stated Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., at last night's meeting of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce, when invited to discuss the proposed railway deviation scheme. "1 happen to know quite a good deal about the matter," he added, "but 1 cannot tell you anything. Difficulties have arisen owing to the appointment of the railway commission, and I am not sure how that commission will act in regard to the present position in connection with the deviation proposal for Palmerston North. Personally, Ido not think the commission will affect the position, but more than that 1 cannot say except that 1 believe the position is favourable and that you will probably be hearing something about this question at a very early date."
