TRADE PROSPECTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN BRITAIN. , LONDON, Dec. 26. Tho Daily Mail says the fact that 119 000 unemployed have obtained work since October 29 is eloquent of Britain's improving trade prospects. Tho leaders of the various industries are optimistic, and the Welsh merchants expect a moat prosperous year if industrial trouble is avoided. The coni trade is in an excellent position. The shipbuilders complain that work has been postponed owing to the uncertainty of the political position, but as soon as that is remedied business should be brisk. Hosiery manufacturers claim an improvement, Although trade with Australia and New Zealand is alight, they are hopeful, after the preferences are operative, to get a bigger share of orders.—A. and N.Z. cable.
