FROZEN MEAT FREIGHTS.
SYDNEY, April 6. A cablo sent on 23rd March stated that the- London manager of the Oommonwoalth Steamship Lino was introducing cut rates for frozen meat cargoes and as a result of the announcement tho shippers operated. They then approached the Commonwealth Line for space at the reduced, rates, but wore infofned that no space was available at these rates till next year. They complain that thq misleading announcement involved, them in heavy losses overseas. The shipowners now officinllyi state that the reduction was hurriedly announced by the management of the Commonwealth Line, and was really made by tho Dritish Food Ministry on 23rd March to operate- until the end of the present month, and from then shipping companies were freed from control and were at liberty to fix their own rates.—Press Association.
