WORK OF BOARD OF TRADE.
APPRECIATION EXPRESSED. ,";••■-, (Per Press Association.) April 6. Many letters received by the Board of Trade from various interests concerned express appreciation of the Board's impartial work in connection with building regulations and the control of essential mu'terials recently. The Beard dealt with many hundred applications for pcimits for buildings 'Other than dwelling houses or. farm buildings. Local bodies which acted in cooperation with the Board of Trade dealt with 4150 applications for permits _ for dwellings and farm buildings. In addition to tho regular permit business, the Board received many inquiries from persons who wished to ascertain whether an application was likely to Jbe granted in districts outside Wellington. The Board's control of tho distribution of cement ceased on March 19th, but in Wellington tho end did not come till April 2nd. From July Ist, 1920, to April 2nd. the quantity of cement distributed under the Board's control was nearly 63,000 tons.
