THE LICENSING REFERENDUM.
LATEST FIGURES.
The official counts for 46 districts, plus ,the preliminary counts for the remaining 22 districts, give the following totals in the licensing poll: Continuance 238,569 State Purchase 31,603 Prohibition 267,475 The combined Continuance-Stato Purchase majority against Prohibition is 2697. The Prohibition total is short of an absolute majority by 1349 votes. ..The districts for which official counts have not yet been received are as follows: Puvnell, Franklin, llotorua, Bay of Plenty, Gisl.vme, Taranaki, Putoa, Palmerston, Mana»vatu, Wanganui, Waitomo, Wairarapa, Wellington South, Nelson, Motueka, Westlaiid, Hurunui, Kaiapoi, Wakatipu, Bruce, Clutha and Awarua. The absent voters' permits and seamen's rights still to be accounted for number rather more than 4000, and there are also soldiers' votes t cast aboard transports at sea, to> be counted. The number of these permits actually used is not known, and may not exceed 3000.—Dominion.
PROHIBITION MINORITY 2969.
