TRAGIC DEATH.

»A MOTOR-CYCLE FATALITY, A tragic i death occurred yesterday afternoon as the result of a motor accident ■ when . Mr Norman Archibald Gillies-was killed near Sanson. According- to advice, received by the police the deceasod was last soon alive when riding a high-powered motorbicyclo at a high rato of speed. Later the body was found on'the side of a. level road with tho skull fractured. Marks on tho Pbad indicated that tho cycle had ekidded on l loose gravel. Deceased left Marton yesterday at about a-quarter past five o'clock, and was picked up about a mile and K half on tho Feilding side of Sanson by Mr F. Pirani and a party in a I motor-car. .At that time ho was uncons-1 cioua, and* he passed away before Feilding was. reached. The deceased was 32 years J of ago, and was a roturned soldier, having k left with tho Ninth Reinforcement, and liad » I boon in indifferent'health-as-a result of gas poisoning. His fatlier, Mr Hugh Gillies, , of Rangitikci line,'is at present away from homo, having been judging at an agricultural shpw.-ftt .Nuhaka, Hawke's Bay, but ho is expected home this evening. Wide, sympathy will bo extended to the family jn their bereavement, as following upon the death of another son killed in nation their grief becomes the more poignant. Tho-funeral will tako place tomorrow morning, leaving his father's residenoo at' 10 a.m.
