Somo-of war's after-effects were commented upon very impressively by the Rev. W. G. Monckton in the course of his sermon at St. Peter's Chi\rch, Takapuna, Auckland, on Sunday evening. The Austrian Chancellor recently stated that in Vienna thore were threo hundred thousand children literally dying of starvation." We, in this favoured land, he continued, had much to be thankful for. We could never picture, we could never realise what the world was suffering. Our "boys" died in the cause of freedom, on behalf of the Empire we loved so well. They had gone in the prime and pride of their youth. They had laid down their lives for the freedom we loved, and for something more, they had died that sunshine might enter the lives of the weakest and the lowliest. This was the lesson that the preacher strove to impress on Christian people, and he did so most earnestly and impressively." ;
