YOUNG SENTENCED.
(Fee Pebss AaaonuTiow.l DUNEDIN, Nov. 6. In the Police Court to-day Henry Young, charged with taking away a girl under eighteen against tho will of her parents for improper purposes, pleaded guilty. The accused and the girl left their clothes on the Ocean beach with a view to making people thin!: they had been drowned, and subsequently worked their way to Auckland under assumed names, where Young gave himself up to the police. Accused was sentenced to eleven months’ hard labour Counsel for accused suggested that a long sentence would he detrimental to accused’s wife, who intended taking maintenance proceedings against him, but the police said they understood accused’s people in England were well off and would make provision for Mrs Young during the period of sentence.
