THE RIGA GULF OPERATIONS.
BALTIC FLEET REVIVES. WHY THE GERMANS ARE WITHDRAWING. Received October 30, 11.10 a.rn. LONDON, Oct. 29. The Daily Chronicle’s Petrograd correspondent records an astonishing revival of .spirit in the Baltic Fleet. The Bolshevik crows are eager to defend the country to the last breath. Complete naval accord prevails. If the army rises to the occasion similarly, there is no question of any important German success. The object of the Germans in slightly withdrawing the line above Riga is to draw the Russians on, before thrusting at the Russian bear. The Germans have evacuated the Vcrder peninsula. RUSSIAN OFFICIAL MESSAGE. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. LONDON, Oct. 28, A wireless Russian oflicial message says': Our artillery dispersed several scone of our men who were fraternising with the Germans in the region of Illukst. RUSSIAN PARLIAMENT APPROVES PETROGRAD, Oct. 23. 'Hie preliminary parliament has approved of Kerensky’s declaration that the Government will defend Petrograd vigorously, and remain in the capital till the last moment.
