ANZACS' WONDERFUL WORK.

AVENGING THEIR FALLEN COMRADES. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. LONDON. Oct. 15. The Australian Press Association correspondent at headquarters reports: The artillery on both sides is most active. In the bog areas, behind our lines, it is inspiring to see the New Zealand and Australian artillery men with field guns, urging their splendid horses through a sea of mud despite shell bursts. Tho poor beasts sometimes are. caught in the bog, imd shooting them is the only solution. The Anzaos are doing wonders in getting up food and ammunition with a view to tho possibility of counter-attacks. The stretcher-bearers worked manfully throughout ■ tho night. At one time it was necessary to- call for volunteers to man tho stretchers. 'Several New Zealanders were thus wounded owing to German snipers. The Now Zealanders' were intensely indignant when, four of them were wounded at one point in a few minutes. The New Zealanders initiated a stern retaliatory measure which was speedily effective and by midday practically all the New Zealand and Australian .wounded were brought in. Describing the Anzacs’ present position, ho says the enemy still hold Bellevue at the southwestern end, although the New Zealanders are closing in through Wolf Copse, which marks their maximum advance. The New Zealanders are still in great fighting trim, and are impatient because tho appalling weather compelled a halt before their final objectives, were taken.
