HOCKEY.
'HSAU I^A^iISIIKJ. The ladies' team selected to do battle for Palmewtop. against the English, ladies is now putting in assidnous practice. The whole team with the emergencies were out this morning with their enthusiastic coach, Mr G. Larkirrg. Some solid work was put in, and the team should be in fine fettle for their match on Wednesday week next. Practices wuj be continifed on Monday and Tuesday of next week. On Wednesday a men's combination will play the team, and the game should do them a lot of good. MEETING OF ITli EXECUTIVE. The Executive of the Hockey Association met last evening. Present: Messrs Hodgson (chairman), Brennand, Cousins, Larking, Kerslake (2), Oates, Webb and Crump. High School ladies' team were granted permission to play Dannevirke on Saturday. High School also wrote stating they were .unable, to travel to Rpngotea, and would therefore hare to . forfeit their matches. Technical School wrote notifying that they were unable to get a team to go to Rongotea on Wednesday. Mr Crump was appointed to report upon the rolling and preparation of the Showground for the match with the English ladies on August 5. The referees in ths Old Boys-United match reported upon an incident as a result of which a player in" the latter team was ordered off for striking an opponent. It was decided; to caution the offender against a repetition of such conduct. . The secretary, Mr Hodgson, reported on the northern tour of the representative team, and it was decided to send letters of thanks to the Waikato and Auckland Associations for the hospitality accorded tha team. It was decided to hold a sealed handicap competition- for ladies' teams at the conclusion of championship round. •Fixtures for Wednesday were drawn up as follows: Senior.—United v. C. and C, No. 1, Showground. 2 p.m.; Old Boys v. Technical* No. 2. Showground, 3 p.m.; Palm'ffston a bye. liadies.—Ladies' representatives v. Men's team, No 1. Showground, 3.15 p.m. Juniors.—Technical v. Post Office, No. 3. Showground; High School v. Rongotea, No. 4, Showground. Thirds.—Campbell street v. High School A Technical v. High School B, High School grounds. High School Old Bovs. in their match against Park, on the High School grounds to-morrow at 3 p.m.—West, Burgess, Ihle, Perrin. Harwood, Nielsen, Graham, Hordic, Tucker, Whitehead, Barnard. Athletic A to play United at Feilding to- ! morrow.—Everiss, Little. Dolph, Irvine. Liddle, Moore, Watson," Warnock, Webster and Barnard.
