THE PRODUCE MARKET.

Harry Palmer reports a very big entry of both pigs and poultry. Pigs took a. decided turn for the better, and prices showed ii considerable increase on last week's values. The bulk of the pigs offering wero weaners, slips and small .store*, whilst the quality of all lines, including porkers, was of the beet. The poultry offered was also a splendid lot of well-conditioned birds, which sold at fair average values, considering the time of year. There. is a good firm market for'produce of all kinds. Good chaff, oats and pollard have been scarce during the week. The demand, for good table potatoes is keen at firm prices. Good vegetables, such as cabbages, carrots, and swedes, are scarce. There is a good demand. We sold the first of tho season's swedes on Saturday. Fruit is practically restricted to apples, quinces and pears'.. and all other lines being now out of season. During the past week wo held two sales of dairy stock. Buyers ; are keen for good young and sound cows, and the prospects for this class of stock are bright. Our sale of art pictures, on account of Mr Sand ford, resulted in the catalogue of 75 pictures being sold at fair prices. At Mr Schneil's sale the cows offered were a mixed lot, with only-fair condition. Sound cows sold from £5 7s, £6, £7, £7 10s. £8 10s.. bull £7 10s. At Mr C E. Larscn's sale on Wednesday the cows were a much bettor lot. j and buyers were keen. The cows offered were in splendid nick and were mostly Julv and August calvers. Prices went from £5 17s 6d to £9 2s 6d, with an average of £7. bull £2 55.. yearling heifers £4 each. Palme!\ston_ N.. report:—'-At our Feilding sale on Friday we had a very fair entry of sheep and cattle, practically the whole of which were sold at auction. Quotations: — Sheep : Small mixed lambs 2s 9d. 3s 7d, 3s 9d. 4s 6d, to ss. mixed lambs 6s 4d. 6s 9d to 7s 2d, ewo lambs to 9s 2d: mixed age .'-wes 8s 3d, 2-th wethers 12s. 2 and 4-th wethers 13s lid to 14s 2d, Roinney rams 19s 6d to 235. Cattle: Wcaner steers 255, weaner heifers 255, 345, to 37s store cows £2 ss. springing heifers £3 17s 6d to £5 15s. fat cows to £5 17s 6d. Abraham and Williams, Ltd.. report on their Feilding sale as follows:—Wo had an exceptionally heavy yarding; of both sheep and cattle. Prices for ewes were above last week's quotations, lambs not being quite so good. AYo sold all the sheep, with the exception of two small pens. The cattle were all sold at prices in favour of vendors. Gorton and Son report:—At Hunterville on Tuesday we had a fair yarding of sheep and cuttle, and we were successful in quitting the whole of our entry at satisfactory prices. Wethers and good lambs sold well, and cattle met with a ready sale. -At Feilding yesterday we had a heavv yarding of sheep and a small entry in cattle. All classes of sheep sold "well except small cull lambs, which were difficult of sale, and declined somewhat in price.
