{Br Electric Teleghaph—Copieight. (Per Pbess association.) Received April li, 9.30 a.m. SYDNEY, April 11. ! Edwards and Company's large timber yards and mills at Camperdown took fire this morning. The fire appears to have complete ' possession. The timber carters and drivers have struck work in sympathy with the timber stackers, and the industry is practically idle. Efforts are being made to induce the wharf labourers to make common cause with the strikers. The mother of a newly-born child has developed smallpox at the quarantine station. ADELAIDE, April 11. A suspicious case on the Omrah is not smallpox but meningitis. An attempt, the fourth within 18 months, was made to dynamite the fire station at Charters Towers. The damage was trifling. The dead body of a girl named Murphy was found under the bed of a boarding house at Toowoomba. The room has been unoccupied for a fortnight. The landlady shut it up tightly and proceeded to fumigate- it with hydrocyanic acid. When the room was opened the body was found. It is a mystery how the girl eirleied the room.
