WATER-LOGGED BUTTER.
VICTORIAN PRODUCE QUESTION. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Pee Press Association.! LONDON, April 10. The Commissioner of Customs has prosecuted the Ellis Kislingburg Company, for importing by the Omrah 33cwt. of Victorian butter, containing 18.2 per cent, of water. Defendants pleaded that the Government's certificate did. not mention excess of water, and they regarded its certificates as practically Government guarantees. The Magistrate at Tower Bridge Court, in imposing a fine of 40s, said: '"The people who inspected, this butter before shipment ought to be before me."
