DEFENCE REGULATIONS.
EFFECTING THE STUDENTS
(Ffr Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 7. There is trouble at the local training college over the regulation preventing students attending lectiires at the University College before 5 p.m. The Education Department- presumably wants the whole time of students during the day, and is unwilling that the hours of school-work should be broken into. The regulation presses very hardly, however, on students who are taking the degree course at the University, since it prevents them attending important lectures which under the Canterbury College time-table can scarcely be given after 5 o'clock. Professors are endeavouring to arrange extra lectures on Saturday to meet the convenience of students at the training college, but this does not get over the difficulty. In the meantime the students are complaining bitterly of the department's attitude.
