AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
PALM Ell ST ON WINNERS AT WOODVILLE. Yesterday the newly formed Woodville Amateur Athletic Club held their inaugural sports meeting. Favoured with glorious weather, the meeting was a great success, and the committee are to be congratulated on the results. A large team of Palmerston athletes and supporters made the trip, and were fortunate enough to bring back a big share of the trophies. D. Walden, the newly discovered sprinter, was most successful, winning the 100 vards handicap, and being second in the. 220 and 440. D. Robertson annexed the 440 yards handicap, and ran into second place in the half-mile from the scratch mark. D. Moxon, a new aspirant for walking honours, gained the verdict in the mile walk. The 120 Hurdles resulted in Peed, the winner, and Stagpoole leaving a poor field about 20 yards behind, Peed winning bv inches from Stagpoole. J.
