The Victorian Government trade, which practically represents 300,000 tons yearly, was lost through the opening of tho Powlett river mine. Trade in the Phillipines received a setback and the industry will take some timo to recover. The Borehole miners are fractious and will not return to work to-dav. They complain that the management, contrary to the undertaking given to Mr Chariton, is endeavouring to make alterations in the working conditions.
