A MILLION STERLING LOST.
VICTORIAN TRADE LOST.
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Peb Press Association.) Received March 14, 10.25 a.m. SYDNEY, March 14. A million sterling in wages was lost through the Newcastle strike. The Victorian Government trade, which practically represents 300,000 tons yearly, was lost through the opening of tho Powlett river mine. Trade in the Phillipines received a setback and the industry will take some timo to recover. The Borehole miners are fractious and will not return to work to-dav. They complain that the management, contrary to the undertaking given to Mr Chariton, is endeavouring to make alterations in the working conditions.
