BOWLING.
There was a large attendance at the Palmerston North Bowling Green yesterday afternoon, the special occasion being a visit from two Terrace End teams of colts, who met colts from the Palmerston Club. Appended is a list of the players and scores: —Palmerston No. I—Rice. Crump, Fraser, Jolly (skip), 25 v. Kidd, Sutcliffe, Spaekman, Adams (skip) 11. Palmerston No. 2—Smith, Smither, Coles, Cleland (skip) 32 v. Terrace End No. 2, Osgood, Scott, Martin, Sinclair (skip) 12_, Palmerston proving victorious by 34 points. The President, Mr Tasker», welcomed the visitors to the ground, and expressed the hope that there would be frequent games between the two clubs. Mr N. Sinclair appropriately responded on behalf of the visitors. Afternoon tea and light refreshments were dispensed by Mesdames S. Russell and A. Harris, and both visitors and home players had a most enjoyable time. Two matches were played during the afternoon for the Pickering Pins. The holders, Messrs Dixon and C. Pickering', successfully defended' the trophies on each occasion, first beating Haydon and J. A. Nash by 21 to 20, and then accounting for H. Mowlem and N. Malcolm by 17 to 16. A rink match between teams skipped by Tasker and A. Pickering resulted iai a tie, each scoring 22 points. Tasls&r Badges.—The holders, S. Russell and N. Nash, defeated Torstonsen and A. Pickering by 20 to 9, the winners having a few days previously defeated Dixon and S. Smith by one point, after a keen game.' The final of the 1908 New Year Tournament, played between *S. Abraham and C. Smith and Gerrand and W. Brophy, resulted in a win for Abraham and Smith, who triumphed by 20 to 14. Two Wanganui rinks passed through Palmerston yesterday en route for Wellington, where they play in the Duthie Cup.
