Archbishop Wright, speaking at a prize distribution, and referring to religious teaching in schools, said that the State had given -the right to every Chrietian section of the country to send its own teachers to teach its own children. They should be thankful to the State for making this arrangement and so recognising a great prinicple.
A trapedy has occurred at Eureka, near Ballina. Two farmers, Clark and his brother-in-law. Keys, were drinking and quarrelled. Clark shot Ke3'S dead and then blow out his own brains. Clark told his wife he had killed Keys and committed suicide in her presence despite her efforts to dissuade him.
BRISBANE, Feb. 8.
Two blocks in the main street of Cloncurry (Queensland), comprising 20 business premises, wore destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at £15,000.
