HERBERT FLEMMING COMPANY.
Mr C. A. Whaite, representative for Mr Herbert Fleming, arrived in Palmerston yesterday to make the necessary arrangements for the visit of the company, opening at the Opera, House on Tuesday next. With the exception of one or two old favourites, the company will be entirely new to New Zealand, as Mr Flemnaing only returned to Australia from England with his new company in time to open in Melbourne last Boxing Night. MUs Beatrice Day, who still holds the position of leading lady, will be supported by several new artists from England. It has been decided to open the season here with the London success, "Tho Mummy and the Humming Bird," a play in four acts, by Isaac Henderson, which enjoyed-a run of over 400 nights in London, arid is now being played by five different < companies through America. The piece was first produced in Australia at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne, last Boxing Night, where it ran for a season of three weeks to crowded business. Besides this piece, Mr Herbert Fleming v/as fortunate whilst in England in securing no less than eight nice plays, six 1 of which will be produced during the company's stay in New Zealand. The box plan will be open at Park's tomorrow morning, when seats may be booked for two nights.
