A Wellington merchant has received a letter from a gentleman largely interested in the produce trade in Queensland, from which the following is an extract :—" Queensland is almost dead.at present, due to drought. I notice you people are having a good innings out of New South Wales and Queensland with a supply of heel and mutton, as well as dairy produce. It eerUinlv looks like drawing upon New Zealand for all supplies up to aud including the Christmas, demand. Hams should be a good line to send here as Is 3d per pound could be easily obtained."
