Keplymg to Mr Wasonin the House of Commons, Mr Chamberlain said that he was not aware of the issue of an ordinance in Fiji regarding attempts to cause disaffection. He had, however, cabled to Governor O'Brien that if such ordinance was passed he should suspend its operation, and. await further instructions.
" Sydney, July 29. Governor O'Brien, of Fiji, leaves for Brisbane en.route to England. He declines to make any statement in regard to Fiji affairs. ,
