Bubonic Plague.

[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.] (Per Press Association.) Brisbane, May 15. A wharf hand named Hans Larsen has been attacked by plague. The other patients in Brisbane are progressing favourably. William Blackford, a wharf employee, "has been found to be suffering from plague. Two men named Kichards and Shanahan, who worked in the same vicinity, have been quarantined. Melbourne, May 15. The patient who was under observation at Geelong has died. The doctors who were attending him declare that his case was not one of plague. A postmortem examination will be made by an expert.

Fremantle, May 15. A man named Mellit, resident here, has developed what are thought to be symptoms of plague. Sdyney, May 15. A resident of North Shore named Joseph Bergan was reported to-day to be suffering from plague. A Chinese named Bour You died suddenly to-day at Waterloo. A postmortem examination revealed that he was plague stricken. A patient named Nutt has died in quarantine. Eockhampton, May 15. A man named Donovan, a railway employee, and one O'Donnell, living at Lakes Creek, have been stricken by plague. The latter succumbed to the disease. The Hospital Board accepted an offer of the Borough Council of a site and authorised a Committee to proceed at once with the erection of a building in wood and iron for a temporary Plague Hospital, being of the opinion that it would be unwise to wait till a case appeared. If used the building would be burnt, if not used it would be sold. Dunedin, May 15. The steamer Tarawera, -which went into quarantine on arrival from Melbourne, will be released to-morrow evening. The following is the passenger list of the Tarawera from Melbourne, in quarantine at Port Chalmers : — For Wellington —Miss Connell, Mesdames Burns and Watson, Messrs G Hurley, Gow, Gormon, J. Bull, J. W. Pryor, Watson; 11 steerage.

The plague Hospital dispute was finally settled this morning by judgment by a full bench of the Supreme Court. Judges Williams, Edwards and Conolly again decided in favour of the corporation, holding that the power of lease was valid and the lease by the corporation to itself as the Board of Health was good and did not contravene the Municipal Corporation Act or any rule of equity. The Chief Justice held the power to lease and lease itself were both bad. Judge Martin held that the power to lease was good, but the lease was void. The effect is that the Hospital is not to bo disturbed. Formal leave of appeal to the Privy Council was granted.
