St. Mary’s 'Anglican Church, Levin, was the scene of a very pretty evening wedding on Thursday, July Ist, when Miriam, only daughter of 'Mrs Cullen Powell, Levin, and the late Mr D. AV. McLaren, of Masterton, was married to George Frederick, only son of Mr and Mrs F. AVioods, of Foxton. The officiating minister was the Rev. J. C. Davies, while Mr J. Hayfield presided at the organ. Entering the church, escorted by Mr E. P. Hay, of Wellington, the bride made a lovely picture in a beautiful Paris model gown of ivory satin cut on slim-fitting lines; flaring from the knees, the full skirt falling into a long oval train. The gll lace leg of mutton sleeves pointed over the hands were finished with satin buttons. The dainty veil of . all-over lace, which fell gracefully over the face, was held by a coronet of orange blossom, and formed a long delicate train. She carried a sheaf of white cyclamens, orchids, earnations, and maiden-hair fern, completing a beautiful toilette. The bridesmaids, Miss Mary Hoggard, of . A\ r ellington, Mss (Bobby) Hope-Gibbons, of AVellington, and Miss Nellie Woods (only sister of the bridegroom), were gowned alike in silvery blue chiffon velvet, cut on slim-fitting lines, flaring from the knees, the full skirt forming a long train. The full leg of mutton sleeves pointed over the. hands were finished with tiny velvet buttons. Ice blue tulle veils gracefully falling over the face and down the back, were caught on the heads with three delicate shaded carnations, and bouquets of blue hyacinths, for-get-me-nots and maiden-hair fern with silyer streamers matching the silver shoes,. completed a delightful picture. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr ID. AA r . McLaren (brother of the bride) and those of groomsmen by Mr G. Leslie - Davison (AYlhangarei) and Mr L. G. Che twin, of. Wellington. The ushers at the church were Messrs JL McLaren and Iv. Lemmon.

The guests were later entertained at an informal reception at the Civic Lounge, where the guests were received by the bride’s mothex;, wearing a model gown of brown satin with hat to tone, an exquisite autumn tinted bouquet lending an effective note to her ensemble. Assisting Mrs Powell was the . bridegroom’s mother, making a charming picture in a musquash fur coat over a wine , ring velvet Paris gown with matching toque and eye veil. She carried a beautiful wine shaded bouquet of cyclamen and maiden-hair fern. Among those present were Mr and Mrs K. Rowe, Mrs B. HopeGibbons, Mrs R> A. Witt and Mr E. P. Hay ( Wellington), Mrs Staples (Motueka). Mr and Mrs J. Robertson and Mr and Mrs Irvine (Linton), Mr and Mrs Kane (Foxton), Mr and Mrs H. J. Jones, Mr and Mrs Routley, Mr and Mrs F. Allen, Mrs F. Dames, Mr and Mrs J.’ Coulson, Mr and Mrs Elliott, Misses 8., AA(ilkinson, P. Staples, P. Walshj.D. Nicholsen, B. Davies, .N. Witt, N. Lynch; Messrs B-. Hope-Gibbons, J. Irvine, M. Brown, E'. Davies, G. and D. Sorensen, Mr and Mi’s F. AVoods (parents of the bridegroom) Mr and Mrs G. Leslie-Davidson, Whangarei cousins of the bridegroom, Mr and Mrs L. H. Collinson, Mr and Mi’s J. Linklater (Palmerston N.), Mr and Mrs !M. A. MacLeod and Mr and Mrs M. Waldin (Feilding), Mr and Mrs and Miss Thane, Mr and Mrs M. E. Perreau, Mr and Mrs G. F. Smith (Foxton). The happy couple later left by car for their honeymoon tour of the North Island, the bride travelling in a turquoise blue ensemble with toque, fur and accessories to match. Mr and Mrs G. Woods were the recipients of many beautiful gifts, including a number from abroad. Their future home will be at Motuiti.
