FOOTBALL.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Horowhenuia Rugby Union management Committee was held in Levin on Tuesday evening. Mr Bateman was appointed manager of the senior reps, who are to travel to Pahiatua to-morrow to meet Bush in a match for the Bebbington Shield. Bush submitted the names of three referees to control the game and that of Mr Reid, of Dannevirke urns chosen. The Horowhenua team is as follows : Anderson, Bateman, Bond, J. Cameron, Carmont, Cole, Coles, C'lunie, George, Gray, ,M. Hakaraia, Henry, Hogan, Hutchins, Nepia, Kingsbeer, A. Woods, G. Woods and Knox. Mr D. Richards, manager of the junior reps., Who recently > visited Pahiatua to play for the Ghillie Cup wrote paying a tribute to the Bush Union, for its hospitality. It was decided to forward a letter of appreciation to the Bush Union. The Wellington' Rugby Union advised that in view of the fact that the Union did not have a match a,.gainst the South Africans, it had been decided to offer the same allocation of seats for the match ngainst Wellington as for the test game. The prices were: Main stand 10/- and 7/6, temporary stand 5/6, enclosure 3/6: —The offer was accepted. / The sub-committee appointed by the Horowhenua branch of the Educational Institute to control the primary school rep. games arranged for the season, wrote advising that the annual quadrangular football tournament between Taranaki, Rangitikei, Hutt Valley and Horowhenua, was to be played at Levin this year in August. The Union was asked to appoint a representative to that committee. —Mr 'Casey was delegated to act for the Union in making arrangements.'

Mr F. H. Clift, a member of the sub-committee, waited on the meet-, ing and detailed the list of trials and preliminary matches arranged for selecting Horowhenua’s representatives. He asked for permission to play these and also games in the tournament at times suitable to the Union. Mr Clift said the cost of the tournament would be over £SO" and his committee solicited the Union’s assistance towards meeting the expenses of the tournament.

Permission was given to play the games, but the matter of financial assistance was held over until a. later meeting.

TO-MORROW’S FIXTURES. There will be no i senior competition games to-morrow on account of the representative fixture but in the other grades the following matches will be played, their venue and the referee being given also : Junior.- —Waimeha v. Otaki, at Otaki, 'Mr G. Rhodes; Ra-hui v. Moutoa, at Easton Park, Mr W. Williams; Paekakariki v. Paraparaumu. at Paekakariki, Mr S. Graham; Athletic v. Shannon, at Shannon, Mr G. Graham. Third grade.—Shannon v. Foxton, at Shannon, Mr T. Kohika; Moutoa v. Punahau, at Easton Park, Mr A. Rouse; Athletic v. Wanderers, at Prouse’s Paddock, Mr K. Davis.

FINAL TRIAL TO-MORROW The final New Zealand trial match to select the All Black fifteen to meet the Springboks in the first Test match at Wellington will be played at Athletic Park tomorrow, when a New Zealand team will meet the next best fifteen. Of the players originally selected, D. Solomon (Auckland), who was chosen as centre-threequarter for The Rest, has had to drop out orving to an injury, and his place will be taken by B. A.
