THE ELLERMAN FORTUNE.
The £6,000,000 wlich the Chancellor of the Exchequer has receivas a second instalment in death duties on the estate of Sir John Ellerman, the 71-year-old shipping magnate who died in July, 1933, supplements the £8,600,000 paid as a first instalment 16 days; after Sir John’s death.
■The estate was conservatively estimated at Sir John’s death to be over £30,000,000, hut the final valuation for Somerset House may total nearly £40,000,000.
