DIXON CUP. AIATCH.
On Saturday last a Foxton link played a challenge (match for the Dixon Cup with the- Feildihg rink which hold the trophy, Hut were not successful. Judging from the figures on the score card, the game went in favour of the holders from the “hop off” and at no time did the challengers draw even with their opponents. On the first head, Feilding scored two, followed by a single, while Foxton secured a single on the third. Foxton’s next score was on the sixth head, when they secured a brace to make their figure 3, against G by their opponents. Foxton again notched two on the ninth end, their opponents by that time having doubled their figure: 5—12. For four succeeding heads the challengers made no score while their opponents added that number of singles: 5 —16. On the fourteenth and fifteenth Foxton secured singles, but missed on the next three heads, while Feilding added a two and two singles, the score on the eighteenth being 20—7 in favour of the holders. On the last three heads Foxton got some of their own back by talking a three, a single and another three, to make their final score 14 points. y The rinks were as follow: y Feilding: Willamson, Dummer, Nesbit, Neilson (s) 20; Foxton: — Eruera, Trueman, Roore, Thomson (s) 14.
HAYDOCIv PINS. Last evening A. Walls and Trueman (s) played a challenge match for the Haydock Pins with the holders, Francis and Heppner (s). The game resolved itself into an interesting finish, the challengers having a chance of winning at the final end. On this they wanted two to carry off the trophies, but could not make the grade, the holders gaining the two points, to make the scores 25 —22. ;
The next .challenge in order is by Thomas and Roore (s).
AWAHOU FEATHERS
A rink is expected from Levin Club to-morrow to play Mattar’s rink for the Awahou Feathers.
