TOWN HALL TALKIES.

No one in the look-out for an evening’s fun without the effort involved in solving a hypothetical matrimonial problem or having their blood chilled by horrors should miss “This Week of Grace” on Friday and Saturday at the Town Hall with the one and only Gracie Fields, the lass from Rochdale, who is England’s greatest and most versatile entertainer. “This Week of” Grace” sets out unashamedly to entertain the ordinary cinemagoer such as you and I, and succeeds beyond expectations. The simple stOrv is told effectively and without striving for the unusual. It .is primarily concerned with the job of giving Gracie Fields and her fine cast of supporting players plenty of opportunity to display their talents. Gracie Milroy (Gracie Fields) and her humble parents (Frank Pettingell and Minnie Rayner) are transported from their surroundings to take up residence on the Duchess of Swinford’s estate. The taking of the Milroy family into the bosom of England’s aristocracy and the unabashed Lancashire disdain with which the Milvovs meet the icy atmosphere may better be imagined than described. However, Gracie Milroy meets and falls in love wtih her fairy prince and eventually they live happily ever after. This slight story is sufficient for the needs of the director and his cast. Douglas Wakefield, Frank Pettingell and Minnie Rayner and with Gracie Fields clowning and singing as only she can, the fun is fast and furious during the whole run of the picture.
