WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION.

The monthly meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held on Wednesday afternoon in the Methodist School room. Afrs Jno. Ross presiding. The meeting opened with the usual devotional exercises. After the meeting, the cradle roll children and their mothers were entertained bv W.C.T.U. members. There was an attendance of thirty-two adults and a good number of children whose ages ranged from baby to 8 years old. Miss Grace Huntley, the secretary of the cradle roll, was- warmly congratulated on the increase of 32 members enrolled this year. The list now totals 50 members. Aliss Huntley opened the social part of the afternoon with a nicely rendered pianoforte selection and later on she contributed two more selections, all of which were much enjoyed. A delicious afternoon tea was then dispensed by members. The following children contributed recitations: Isabel Titcombe, Ross East, Nancy Alurray, Thelma and Elma Afudford, Doreen and! Joy Howe, Avis Barnet and Ruth Crow. AHs (Adjutant) Gray gave a most inspiring address to the mothers which was listened to with great interest by all. Relations by Mesdatnos Symon and Thomson were much appreciated. A singing competition. “Popular Songs,” by the folk on the two sides of the room created great fun.

Before dispersing Mrs Ross moved a vote of thanks to the members who had attended to the refreshment part- of the afternoon and which they had carried out so well. She also expressed the pleasure of the W.C.T.U. members on the splendid attendance of mothers and children, mainly due to the enthusiasm of Mrs Huntley and Grace. A cordial invitation was also extended to the mothers or guardians to be present at the meeting in November, which will Ire the annual and final one for this year.
