LINESMAN ELECTROCUTED.
WHILE CARRYING OUT REPAIRS Christchurch, February 15. Mr. John Beatty, railway linesman, married, aged 45, died this evening from injuries and shock received when he cajne into, contact with live wires while repairing the overhead transmission, gear on the Lyttelton-Christehurck line at Wloolston this morning. Mr. Beatty was attending to an insulator, when he received a shock of 1500 volts. Another workman saw what had happened, and by shaking the ladder on which Mr. Beatty was working, freed him from the wires, but the unconscious man fell heavily to tiio ground, and received in addition to severe shock serious injuries to his head and an arm.
Mr. Beatty was admitted to the hospital, but he did not regain consciousness, and died at 0.30 p.m.
