SHANNON CLUB PAYS A VISIT,
Yesterday afternoon two rinks from Shannon Club visited the local green. One rink played for the “B” trophy, and the other for the Awahou Feathers.
In the “B” Trophy match the holders, Howe’s rink, had no difficulty 'in winning, the final scores being 23 —15. The teams were as follow: —
Holders: Eruera, Newth, Trueman, Howe (s) 23; Challengers: G, Hook, E. Butt, R. Hook, Hyde (s) 15. The Awahou Feathers game showed promise for a good many heads of being a run-away game also, the scores on the r fifteenth head being 23 to 8 in favour of Foxton. However, the Shannon players put in a late run, scoring 12 points on live heads straight off, making the score 23 —20 on the twentieth head, which left them four to get on the tianl end to win. However, Foxton secured the score, and thus again retained the trophies. The rinks were: — Foxton: Scadden, Robinson, D. Christie. Alattar (s) 24; Shannon: Clayton, Hensman, Alexander, C. Grey (s) 20.
On Saturday two rinks from Foxton will pay a return visit to Shannon. Roore’s rink will play the holders of the Kinneberg Feathers, and one other rink will play a “friendly” match.
