CONVENT HIGH SCHOOL
AN ENJOYABLE ENTERTAIN-
MENT
The Convent High School Pupils, prior to their mid-winter holidays, entertained their parents and friends with an enjoyable and very creditable little performance- and concert last night. As usual, the stage decorations were very attractive, and every item on the programme was gone through without a hitch. The opening chorus, "Alas, Those Chimes," and "Glow-worm," were specially noticeable. The little children m the other concerted items, dances, and drills, were letter- and action-perfect. Miss B. Burgess sang a solo, "Little Orphan Annie," in a pleasing manner. Miss M. Jenkinson's.recitation of "Little Boy Blue" was much appreciated, and was excellent for so small a child, earning a recall. A sailor's hornpipe, danced by Miss \&. Beirne, delighted the audience. Ihe Misses M. Watson, Sharp, and Priddle were each given leading parts and showed great ability^ Miss Watson being especially noticeable. Miss F. Langley, who is always a good accompanist, was at her best, and was also entrusted with the piano isolo "Wedding Day." She also took part with Miss Watson and Sharp in the trio "Come to the old Oak Tree." The whole concluded with the operetta "The Old Singing Woman, which was well acted and sung by Miss Watson (old woman), Miss Priddle (fairy disguised as a .milkmaid), Misses Sharp, Fairhall, Wolferstan, and Burgess (shepherdesses), each one being very good in their respective part. The audience seemed quite satisfied with the whole performance, and the Sisters axe again to be congratulated on the result of their excellent teaching.
