AUCKLAND STRIKE CASE
THE UNION'S DEFENCE,
AUCKLAND-, May 18.
The defence in the strike case was that the executive of >the Union did not call the men out, and. that only a portion of the Executive 'was.responsible. A minute was oil the books of the Union endorsing1 the action of the Executive, but it was suggested that this minute was incorrect.
•;.V-The secretary of the Union • said that he and the organiser (Mr Corbett) were responsible for calling out 'the men. . ; .
The president (Mr P. Fraser) said that when they got excited they were not so particular as to terminology as' they would be when calm.
His Honor.: "When they get excited they put lies on the book." Witness did not agree that it was .a.lie. '. •. ,•■.■.. •..:. ; ■;. .'r ■
