"POOL."

AUCKLAND, Nov. 4. A meeting of billiard-saloon keepers decided to raise funds for an appeal against the decision of Mr Cutten, S^M., that saloons where "pool" is played for small stakes are common gaming houses. Their solicitor telegraphed to the Hon. Dr. Findlay, Minister for Justice, suggesting that instructions be given to the police to permit the matter to go on as before, pending appeal. Dr. Findlay replied that he did not care to interfere with police proceedings, but he had communicated Avith the Commissioner of Police that the suggestion seems reasonable if the appeal is prosecuted with due diligence.
