MINE EXPLOSION.

Another explosion occurred at the Occidental mine, (Jobar (IS\S.W.), last week, similar to that which resulted in the death of Gudgeon and the loss of a leg by Bowman several months ago. J. Hodge and W. Cooper were firing at the 100 ft. .level in the open cut, and returned to one of the charged holes, which, though the report was said to have been heard, exploded as they proceeded to drill it out. Both men were thrown down to the 170 ft. level, and a,r© badly mangled, especially about the head. Both were conscious when recovered, but little hopes are entertained for their recovery.
