EDISON'S AMBEROL RECORDS
We hav.e (received from .Quartly's Music Stores.a.^booklet containing full information concerning the latest Edison invention—the "Amberol" phono^ graph record--and a number of photo-1 graphs of record artists. At a luncheon in Princess Restaurant, lioridon, recently, Mr G. -Clroydon Marks, M.P., chairman of- the National PhonograpTi Company, Limited, gave -am account ;of the development of the phonograph. The difficulty associated with the .original phonography he said, was the ■reproductionofisibsantsand aspirates, '"This gathering is called to give .you :an opportunity of nearing an Edison record which, wMle-fceing. on an ordinary phonography will:last double the length of time," Ihe Said; 'TKe oia record has 100 lines or' threads to each inch, and was 3Jin. lofig. In the new record they are 200 to? the inch. The additional lines, instead of making the record less distinct, have had the opposite effect. The length of thread or line that passes- round the (Amberol' record produced by Edison, from the beginning to the end of its performance, would cover a distance of 5076 inches, and thirteen 'AmfcerbF records would measure a mile of m:us«j."
