[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 11., In the Supreme Court to-day Christopher Isaac Denby, stationmaster at ' Leeston, was charged with the theft of a lady's tlress and other material sent as a parcel by rail. The defence » was that at no time- had there been any fraudulent intention on the part of the accused, only grave error or judgment. His Honor said that the accused distinctly admitted what he had called theft, and the defe"nce was almost an-insult to the intelligence or the jury. The jury then retired. A charge of perjury against Lucy Riley is proceeding.
