One hundred and sixteen Liberal, Labour and Irish Members of the House of Commons memorialised Mr Asquith in behalf of deported Indians.

Mr Asquith, in reply, said that the appeal was natural, and he was not surprised that it was widely and influentially supported. However, the Secretary of State and flic Government of India were the only judges in the matter.
