NAPIER, May 11. Robert James Howard was charged to-day with, permitting gambling on his licensed premises by allowing cards to he played for da-inks. The magistrate -said that tlie evidence, as presented- by the police, was too inconclusive, and he did aioit feel justified in entering a convictioni. His Worship concluded: "Cards have been played in this hotel, and played for money by a boy 15 yearns of <aga. In my opinion this has been established. I can only say that a license© who (harbors boys of 15 yeairs around his hotel is not- fit to hold a license. Wiith these .remarks I dismiss the information." ______
