A Press Association telegram from Wellington this afternoon states that the price of flour has been increased by another ten shillings per ton.

On inquiry being made in Auck- " land- with reference to the report from Chrisstchurch that the Defence authorities were compiling a militia list, in view of calling out the first line of men between 18 and 25 years for training, it was elicited (says a Press Association telegram) that no such list is being conipiled in Auckland, but at the direction of the Council of Defence a return is being compiled of the men who served in'-the South African corps, or who have other foreign service and are now serving in the New Zealand forces. There is a possibility of a big oil refining company being promoted in New Plymouth, the capital to be subscribed by the various oil-boring companies and a certain amount offered to the public.
