Johnson will leave the residence of the family, Arthur Street, to-morrow at 9 a.m.

Attention is drawn to an alteration in date of the sale of Birch Hill Estate, which has now been definitely fixed for Saturday, 16th November, at 2 p.m. The estate is being divided into nine blocks of from 800 to 5600 acres. Subdivision plans are now being prepared, and will be issued shortly. Besides the local demand, there is a good enquiry for land by southern, buyers, and it is anticipated there will be a good attendance at this sale.

There are still a number of slaughtermen who have not paid in full the fines imposed on them in connection with the strike, and there have been cases of strikers leaving for Australia without paying their fines at all. It is anticipated that these men will return to the colony when the season 6psns, and steps will be taken to deal with them in accordance with the decision of the Appeal Court that the fines are recoverable as an ordinary debt. Payments amounting to about £400 have been made, most of the men paying on instalments in accordance with an agreement entered into by v them with the Department of Labour.
