A general meeting of the local Boxing Association is convened for Wednesday evening next. A reward is offered for the return ot a lost pearl set gold dagger. . A young girl to assist with housework is advertised for. Mr R. D. Martin, auctioneer, land and estate agent, has new properties on offer.

Applications are invited by the Picton Road Board for the position of impounder. An application under "The Land Transfer Act" for the issue of a provisional certificate is inserted to-day. Messrs Griffiths and Son, auctioneers and land agents, have a revised pro-perty-list in this issue. The funeral of the late Mrs J. C. Johnson will leave the residence of the family, Arthur Street, to-morrow at 9 a.m.

" Dominion Day " bargains to be obtained at Messrs Anstice and Co.'s clearing sale are mentioned in paragraph advertisements to-day. Mr R. Allan, Alfred Street, has a new business announcement on our seventh page, in which a list of mew and seasonable goods is given. Woolpacks. and corn sacks, landed direct from Caluctta, are now on offer by the Marlborough Farmers' Cooperative Association. The thoroughbred stallion. "The Artist " will be at the service of Marlborough breeders during the present season. Particulars on application to Mr J. McLauchlan, Criterion Stables. Intending investors in the Maxwell Road extension land sale should peruse carefully Messrs McLauchlan and Co.'s commemoration announcement in this issue.

Marlborough Acclimatisation fishing licenses for. the coming season may now be obtained from authorised agents, mentioned in our advertising columns.

The examinations in connection with the University of New Zealand will commence on the 3rd of December. Particulars of subjetcs, centres of examination, fees, etc., are advertised in this issue.

Attention is directed to the. alteration in Mr Jno. White's advertisement to-day. He has for sale several up-to-date residences in or near town, farms (freehold and leasehold); also houses to let in various parts of the town.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., will sell at their store, Alfred Street, Blenheim, on Saturday next, at 11 a.m. sharp, produce, Mote Bros, convertible .step ladders, suit Rob Roy canoe sails, quantity wire netting, etc., as advertised.

Attention is drawn to an alteration in date of the sale of Birch Hill Estate, which has now been definitely fixed for Saturday, 16th November, at 2 p.m. The estate is being divided into nine blocks of from 800 to 5600 acres. Subdivision plans are now being prepared, and will be issued shortly. Besides the local demand, there is a good enquiry for land by southern, buyers, and it is anticipated there will be a good attendance at this sale.

There are still a number of slaughtermen who have not paid in full the fines imposed on them in connection with the strike, and there have been cases of strikers leaving for Australia without paying their fines at all. It is anticipated that these men will return to the colony when the season 6psns, and steps will be taken to deal with them in accordance with the decision of the Appeal Court that the fines are recoverable as an ordinary debt. Payments amounting to about £400 have been made, most of the men paying on instalments in accordance with an agreement entered into by v them with the Department of Labour.
