THE JUNIOR CUP.

A FIELD DAY,

Every team competing for the' Junior Cup fired on the Vernon Range on Saturday last. This arrangement had been come to by the union after the Blenheim Rifles and Tua Marinas had already fired a match, which had resulted in the defeat of the town team. However 2 the Renwick Club's team, a promising combination, was good enough to do the Blenheim Rifles the favour of beating last week's victors, equalising matters for the start of the second round. The position of the teams is now as follows:—Blenheim Rifles, three wins; Tua Marina, three wins; Renwick, three wins ; Mounted Rifles, one win; Waitohi Rifles, no wins. The firing on Saturday was commenced with a sea breeze blowing and only a fair light, but before the match had progressed very far a strong northwesterly wind was blowing. The shooting was, in consequence, only fair.—Following are the scores:— ,-.
