RIFLE SHOOTING.

Our .Havelock Correspondent, writing on ', Friday, says:—A-meeting of the Havelock Defence Rifle Club was held in the Commercial Hotel Tast night, when a challenge from the Canvastown Club was received and a match arranged. Mr W, Hunter has offered a trophy for competition amongst the rifle clubs on this sjd© of the Wairau River. A hearty vote of thanks was passed in acknowledgment of the gift. It was decidedjto commence shooting for Dr. "Williams's Cup next week. On three days the ranee will be open to competitors, and the man who makes the highest score on any one day is to be the winner. By employing this method each man gets at least one chance of securing the trophy.
