Madame Melba, in an interview, cle clared that the success of her tour exceeded in every respect her anticipations. Australia, she said, had made enormous progress in musical art. All sections of the community were naturally musical. There was plenty of new material, and there was no reason why Australia should not become one of tbe best musical centres in the world.
