Wellington. September 29.
On the police making application this morning to withdraw a charge against a woman who was alleged to be a brothel keeper, on the ground that she had gone to another district, Mr Haselden, S.M., said he thought the complaints made in country districts about a certain class of offenders being hunted from the cities into the country, where they became a standing menace to the peace, were quite justified. It was not right to send offenders away simply to get rid of them.
