THE HAWEA ENQUIRY.
DISSATISFACTION" IN NEW PLYMOUTH. (tnSITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) New Plymouth, July 6. General surprise is expressed here at the decision given by the Marine Board m Wellington on the wreck of the Hawea, as it is so totally contrary to the evidence of the diver and others. The Herald says it is a pity the anchor was recovered before the diver . went down, for evidence as to its position would have at once settled the question. The remarks of the Post, published m the papers this morning, are laughed at, for the rock referred to as found by the Maoris is four hundred feet m shore from whereihe wreck of the Hawea now lies, and where no vessel is expected to go near. The Chairman of the Harbour Board has telegraphed to the Wellington* Post respecting the statement re the rock m or near the track of vessels entering the New Plymouth Harbour. The agent of the Union Steam Company here has informed the Chairman that he this morning wired Captain Allman he need have no hesitation about coming m on the olditrack.
