The Mayor to-day spoke very plainly to the unemployed who waited on him. 1f n said he was disgusted with the behaviour of some of the men, who had not been very respectful to him because he had been compelled to discharge some of them. He h ait noticed some of them drinking after lait pay-day, instead of taking. tho money home. They should remember they were receiving public money, ; and not be unreasonable iv their demands. lie then agreed to telegraph a resolution that t>oo men were out of work, and ;wif,b th.ir families were on the verge of starvation.
