TE WHITI ON THE SUBJECT. A BLOW UP. AT ROTOMAHANA.. (iTNITGD PRESS ASSOCIATION. ) AuOKIiAND, July 8. Te Wliiti has sent v message to llotorua so- that he may be able to predict the next eruption. An earthquake was felt at Rotoiti aud one little tremor at liotorua. Tarawera appears, very quiet, just a litila steam appearing over the hills. Tho froft was severe last night, the ico being .half an inch thick, A great blow-up took plaoe at Rotomahana at nine this morning. The volcano Bhot up a large column of steam, mnd, and stones to a height of 15,000 (tic) feet. The eruption lasted ten minutes. Some anxiety is felt for the safety of the exploring party m the vicinity. The cloud was seen m Te Arohu. Professors Thomas and Brown have returned from Itotonuhana and gone to Rotoiti to-day. They are silent as to their opinions at present.
